Inter-Parish Football and Lagori Tournament – 2017 organised by ICYM Neermarga Unit

The Tournament began with a short prayer service led by the Parish Priest Fr. Anil D’Mello, Director, ICYM Neermarga unit. Football tournament was formally inaugurated by Fr. Anil D’Mello and Sr. Neetha Alva, Superior of Holy Cross Convent, Neermarga inaugurated the Lagori Tournament. Mr. Prakash Pereira, Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Parishad encouraged the participants to play the game without any chaos. Nithesh Rebello compered the inaugural program. Elroy Saldanha President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Br. Stany, Sujith Sequeira and Sunil Pereira Animators of ICYM Neermarga unit were also present for the inaugural function.

As many as 45 teams participated in the Football and Lagori Tournament enthusiastically and with much zeal. Over 1500 crowd visited the venue on the tournament day. Council members of ICYM Mangalore Diocese and City Deanery also visited the Tournament.






At the valedictory ceremony, Fr. Anil D’Mello Parish Priest of Neermarga, Fr. Ronald D’Souza Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Mr. Prakash Pereira Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Parishad, Elroy Saldanha President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Joel Concesso Secretary of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Raison Ferrao President of ICYM City Deanery were also present. Fr. Ronald D’Souza congragulated ICYM unit of Neermarga for successfully organizing the Football and Lagori Tournament. Also he congratulated all the participants and the ever enthusiastic ICYM members who put in all their efforts in making this event a great success.

Football trophy was won by Milagres unit by beating the Valencia unit in the finals and the Lagori trophy was won by Vamanjoor unit by beating the Derebail unit in the finals.

Menal Pereira compered the Valedictory program. Jyothi Lasrado thanked the sponsors and all those who had helped to make up the Football and Lagori Tournament a great success.
